Most honeymoons last a week. Ours lasted sixty days.
A few days after our wedding, we climbed into a Dodge Ram, hitched up a 40-foot Alpha Gold fifth wheel, and pointed ourselves toward the open road. We had a handful of dates circled on the calendar, wedding receptions to attend, concert tickets waiting to be picked up, and a few reservations we couldn’t miss. Beyond that, the plan was simple: have no plan.
Armed with a road atlas, roadside billboards, and more than a few suggestions from Roadside America, we spent the summer chasing whatever looked interesting. Some days were carefully planned. Others were decided by a sign along the highway, a local recommendation, or a random attraction that sounded too strange to pass up.
We explored national parks, small towns, historic sites, and hidden gems. We logged thousands of miles, learned how to live together in a camper, and discovered that some of the best memories happen when you take the scenic route.
This collection preserves that journey. The stories have been lightly refreshed, but the photos, adventures, and memories remain true to the summer of 2012 when two newlyweds set out with a truck, a camper, and sixty days of open road ahead of them.
