While the Alaska Davies were settling into their new home, the East Coast branch of the herd was off on an adventure of its own.
In Alaska, the day was spent unloading more than 10,000 pounds of household goods from the U-Haul and trailers. Box by box, the house began looking a little less like a moving project and a little more like a home.
The biggest challenge wasn’t unloading.
It was still determining which kid was actually sleeping where.
The kids had enthusiastically claimed bedrooms upon arrival, but the realities of furniture placement, boxes, and room layouts led to a fresh round of negotiations. The jury is still out on whether the final decisions are permanent.
Meanwhile, Mia and Zoe officially transformed from the D.C. Davies into the Disney Davies.
They flew to Florida with Sam’s parents to visit the Mouse while Sam remained at the Fiddler Inn, soaking up a little extra time with her grandparents on Maryland’s Eastern Shore.
Before Alaska, before a change of command, and before the next chapter fully begins, Sam squeezed in one final hair appointment. If you’re ever on the Eastern Shore, Brittany at Designers Edge is worth a visit. She’s phenomenal at covering up what she lovingly calls “glitter” and the rest of us call gray hair.
While Sam was enjoying family time, the Disney Davies wasted no time getting started.
They landed in Florida and headed straight to Epcot, where they rode Test Track, enjoyed dinner in Mexico, and closed out the evening watching fireworks over the park.
One branch of the herd spent the day moving boxes.
The other spent the day making memories.
Both ended the day exhausted.
